The colour mapping showing the host utilization of boring spionid polydorid species with the hierarchical cluster dendrograms according mollusc fauna showing the similarity relationship across the sites and species. Dendrograms are generated by using group average linkage clustering method based on Jaccard similarities coefficient calculated on the presence/absence data of molluscs at study site A–X. Presence of each boring spionid species in the host mollusc shell and presence or absence of the traces of spionid excavation as well as absence of the mollusc species are indicated by colours. Location (outside or inside of Tokyo Bay) and environment of the study sites as well as taxonomic group of the host mollusc species are indicated by black and white, or grey-scale colours. Sites G, H, J, L, and P are excluded from the analysis due to inadequate data without any mollusc species. a: only dead shells were observed
